Every Hero needs an origin story…

There was no bandwagon to jump on when Halo Burger was established in 2017.

To accelerate the transition to sustainable food. Long term vegetarian and newly vegan at the time, founder Ross Forder was pissed at the lack of banging burgers available to those not eating meat.

“Why do meat eaters get to have all the fun?”, “Where’s all the banging plant-based munch?”

While pondering these deeply philosophic questions, Ross had been grafting away at an unknown at the time mission driven company called Tesla.  As part of the OG sales team that launched the Model S into the UK market in 2014 and fortunate enough to be in multiple meetings with the legendary Elon Musk on the Tesla journey, Ross learned that nothing is impossible.

Thus, to move the needle on accelerating the adoption of sustainable food, all you need is a relentless desire to create the naughtiest, tastiest burger in the world with plant based ingredients right? Restaurant experience not needed yeah? (Whoops, def helps). We can do anything that we put our minds to apparently.

After pestering Tesla colleagues, family and friends for enough wonga to prove the concept in a shipping container in Pop Brixton, Halo Burger site 1 was born.

At the time Halo was OG. The 1st vegan restaurant in Europe to use Beyond Meat, the 1st to use classic fast food colours, the 1st globally to reform Beyond into fast food size patties, the 1st to make crispy Jalapenos, anyway we’ll stop now. We hope we are making a difference and we are stoked to have you on the journey with us.
